Serena Williams deletes 'Photoshopped' picture after fan backlash
The sportswoman featured in their Most Beautiful 2016 list, behind Jennifer Aniston who landed the number one spot and cover.
To celebrate, the tennis ace posted a picture of herself in a black, low-cut leotard with a noticeably smaller waist than in the original shot.
Williams was instantly called out by her followers and questioned about the disparity between the images.
"I love her but the bar behind her waist is so warped. Disappointing," one said.
While another added: "You could see the pole behind her is distorted... I have seen her in person MANY times! Shes too gorgeous for them to be distorting her like this."
Shortly after Williams replaced the edited snap with that of the original and with the same caption: "@people mag most beautiful 2016."
She was commended by her fans for correcting the error with one writing: "Part of the reason that young women are becoming anorexic.
You should be an ambassador, you should be proud of your curves. The worlds a mess [sic]!"
While another added: "You could see the pole behind her is distorted... I have seen her in person MANY times! Shes too gorgeous for them to be distorting her like this."
It's not the first time Williams has been accused of being overly edited in photographs.
The star of Beyonce's Lemonade faced a similar backlash last year when she appeared on the December cover of Sports Illustrated. At the time, critics asked whether her thighs has been made smaller.
